Explore the Yucatan Peninsula from Casa Cha’ak

Our Casa Cha’ak is located in Seye, a small town only 36 km from Merida, the beautiful capital of the Yucatan state. A location perfect to start your tours to explore the surrounding cenotes, haciendas and archaeological sites.
The history of Yucatan can also be found in the almost two century old main house with its hydraulic floor made in Cuba, and a collection of the relics tell us about the local history between the Maya and the colonisation.
On the the property you can also find an apiary of honey bees (stingless bees) and Luis is always happy to share his knowledge about Maya honey, while you taste the honey of the real Mayan Bee Xunan Kab, Melipona Beecheii, and to explain the different native plants in the beautiful garden, still used in traditional Mayan medicine.
Experience the flavours of Yucatan during a cooking class, learn to cook authentic Mayan dishes like Pollo Pibil and Tamalitos, taste how Mayan culture and Spanish colonial influences blended in perfect harmony through food.
For your stay we can offer you a kingsize bed or for an authentic experience of resting spend your night in a hammock.
Enjoy your morning coffee on the terrace listening to the birds in the garden. Take part in activities such as bird watching, visit haciendas, enjoy the authentic gastronomy.

A very interesting walk back in time.
If you are looking for a careful, knowledgeable, responsive, patient, interesting tour guide pick. We highly recommend Luis from Yucatán Expeditions.
Luis picked us up at our hotel and waited while we got ourselves ready. No rushing.
We had an interesting, lively conversation on the drive to Uxmal Ruin. Luis led us on an adventure through the ruin, knowing all highlights and interesting facts. He navigated the other tour groups do that we were always apart and on our own.
Luis is very knowledgeable about the Mayan culture and Yucatán and Quintana Roo regions. He speaks fluent English, Mayan and Spanish and can get by in a few other languages. He is very respectful and patient. We were never rushed on our trip.
Luis took us for a delicious authentic Mexican lunch at a local restaurant. It was much better than the meal we had the night before in Merida.
Next we toured Hacienda Yaxcopoil. It was an interesting walk through the history of colonial Mexico. Again Luis was very knowledgeable and interesting showing us the highlights and explaining the way of life during those days. We highly recommend Luis for any tour.

Surrounded by Cenotes, Mayan sites and Haciendas
Seye is a small and simple pueblo, and driving through it, you cannot imagine the magical garden that hides behind this house gate. The house itself is spacious and has all the necessities. The garden is pleasant to walk through and you can hear birds at all times.
As previous comments mentioned, the true highlight of staying at Luis’ place is the host itself. Luis is a warm and welcoming host, he is very kind and considerate, and will help you plan your time perfectly during your stay. He lives on the same property and is very communicative. He left us fresh fruit and eggs, was happy to answer all our questions, and all the recommendations he gave us were spot-on.
We arrived in the region for a short visit with not much planning in advance and thanks to him we had a wonderful experience and we’re excited to come back.
